HELIX CC

The new age of code capturing during counting

In high-security printing, it has long been necessary to seamlessly track the individual sheets from the paper machine to the cutting of the banknotes. This tracking should make it possible to obtain information about the status of each individual sheet at any time, particularly in banknote or tax stamp production.

To date, it has not yet been possible to develop a practicable solution that enables efficient tracking of sheets across all production and printing processes. In most cases, it was necessary to convert the stack, which led to a significant slowdown in the process, or to assume that the sheet sequences were contained in the pile.

With the introduction of our Helix CC system, this has changed.

Helix CC now makes it possible to read a code printed in the gripper edge of a sheet during the necessary physical counting of a ream without significantly reducing the process speed. For the first time, seamless tracking of sheets throughout the entire production process is guaranteed.

Helix CC can be used wherever the individual reams are already counted today. No further process is required; the sheets are tracked in the same process step.

The complete Helix CC system consists of the Helix disc and the code reader.

The code reader moves with the counting head during processing and therefore always guarantees the optimum reading range. The corresponding tolerances have already been considered as far as possible.

The code reader can be easily configured for different code types, sequences and background or print colors via the programming environment.

Thanks to its flexible design without increasing the installation space compared to conventional counting heads, Helix CC can also be used in inline production lines.

Of course, Helix CC can also be used outside of high-security printing for tracking printed products wherever stack separation is required, e.g. in photo book printing, pharmaceutical packaging and much more.

Benefits

This system will allow a code printed on the grip edge of a sheet to be:

  • Camera captured

  • Interpreted
  • IT processed

Product Brochure

Capture takes place during the counting of a layer:

  • No more sheet separation

  • No more destacking and restacking

  • Significant reduction in process time

Integrated Functions

Activating and deactivating the code reader:

Use of the machine as a standard counting machine

Counting modes:

Counting, batching, comparing, difference counting.

Immediate stop if code is not readable:

If a code cannot be recognized, the counting process is stopped immediately, the layer is clamped under the disc and the non-readable sheet can be removed after manual unloading of the already processed layer.

Ignore unreadable codes and capture the entire stack:

For a quick status check, unreadable codes can be ignored, and the stack examined. The control unit recognizes unreadable or duplicate codes and addresses them selectively in a second pass.

Evaluation of the results:

Once the counting process is complete, a csv file is created at the operator’s request. The code values and the physical counting results are displayed in chronological order.
